Yes. But these require specific disposal methods and will incur an additional cost, which must be paid at time of booking.

Hazardous materials are not allowed in skips. This rule covers a range of items, including but not limited to, televisions, computer monitors, asbestos, tyres, fluorescent tubes, refrigerators, freezers, paint and paint tins (if not empty), batteries, medical waste, gas cylinders, any type of liquids, solvents, oil, petrol, diesel, and explosives. Furthermore, plasterboard cannot be mixed with other waste in a skip. It needs to be separated, either in a specific skip or a designated plasterboard bag. If you’re uncertain about what can be put in the skip, please check with us before you make your booking.

The price for hiring a skip covers the drop-off and pick-up of the skip, along with an initial rental period of up to 14 days, depending on your location. Please note: Permits are not included in this cost.

If you’re not certain about the skip size you need, don’t hesitate to a member of our team – they’re more than willing to assist. We’ll ask about the types of materials you want to dispose of and determine the right type and skip size for your needs.

The requirement for a permit is based on the location of your skip. If it’s positioned on private property, a permit is not necessary. However, if the skip is to be placed on a public road, then a permit from your local council is required.

Restrictions

You can’t put a skip on the pavement. You don’t need a skip licence if you’re putting the skip entirely on private land. You may need to put safety lights and markings on or around the skip. This includes: reflective markings traffic cones night-time safety lamps the name and telephone number of the skip hire company Contact your local council to find exact rules for lights and markings in your area.

Fines and penalties If you don’t obtain a permit and put up the required safety lights and markings, you could be fined up to £1,000.

Usually, a skip can be hired for a maximum of 14 days, but this can vary based on your location and our availability. The duration of your hire will be confirmed when you book. Please be aware that if the skip isn’t ready for collection at the end of the agreed hire term, we may charge an extra fee for extended hire. The longest period you can keep a skip without moving it is one month. After this, we will collect the skip without prior notice.
